This is my adorable niece Luna:
She’s holding a medal she got for running in the kids fun run at the 2009 Heroes of Hope Race for Research. She got to hold a (plastic) torch and everything! It was a cool day.
At two years old, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was pretty devastating to my family and I, but through a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, love, and support, she is winning her fight against cancer. She just turned four a few weeks ago, and is a really happy kid. She’s still undergoing chemotherapy and visiting the hospital several times a week, but she’s making solid progress.
This November, I’ll be running a 10k to benefit research for her and other people with brain tumors. Last year I was a wuss and ran the 5k, but my team and I were still able to raise a lot of money for the cause. The REALLY cool thing was, that part of Luna’s treatment was funded by the money we raised. THE SYSTEM ACTUALLY WORKS!
If you want to help kids like Luna, please click here to donate to the cause, or better yet, sign up to race with me! It’s a really fun time, and you get to see all the love that these kids and their families have for each other, all working together for a common goal.
